Hamas announced on Wednesday that the body of its political wing leader Ismail Haniyeh will be buried in Qatar, after an official funeral ceremony in Tehran, where he was assassinated. A statement issued by the movement said, "Haniyeh's body will be transferred to Qatar tomorrow, Thursday, after an official funeral in Tehran," which declared 3 days of mourning. The Iranian "Tasnim" News Agency confirmed that Haniyeh's body will be buried in Tehran. According to "Tasnim," "the public relations of the Revolutionary Guards expressed in a statement its condolences to the heroic Palestinian people, the Islamic nation, the fighters of the axis of resistance, and the honorable Iranian people," after Haniyeh's assassination. Haniyeh was killed in a guided missile attack in the early hours of Wednesday, targeting his residence in Tehran, where he was visiting to attend the inauguration of Iran's new president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
