HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad wins Montalcino endurance championship

Rome, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Royal Endurance Team Captain, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has today won the Montalcino international endurance championship.

Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Environment, Deputy Chairman of the High Authority of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa attended the event.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa finished first in the 160-kilometre race to claim another major trophy and confirm the standing of Bahrain’s endurance sport.

HH Shaikh Nasser said that the the royal team’s participation in the race achieved its goals in order to qualify in the upcoming world championship.

“The first places achieved by the team in the 160 km and 120 km races confirm the team’s standing in The European sports arena”, he said.

He praised the efforts and performane of the the jockeys throughout the races, hailing their keenness to achieve positive results in the Montalcino international endurance championship.

HH Shaikh Nasser finished first in the 160 km race, which was held in six stages, clocking 9 hours, 6 minutes and 30 seconds on his horse “Falut”. Meanwhile, jockey Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa did not pass the veterinary examination after the conclusion of the sixth round.

Royal Team jockey Muhammad Abdul Samad, won the 120 km race, clocking 6 hours, 10 minutes and 32 seconds, while the jockey Youssef Al-Jubouri came in second place, posting 6 hours, 10 minutes and 33 seconds. Third-placed Khalifa Jamal Al-Sindi covered the distance of the race in 7 hours and 29 minutes.

Jockey Abdul Rahman Al-Khatri was able to successfully finish the 100 km race for juniors, while the jockey Muhammad Al-Ruwaii achieved fourth place in the 120 km race for juniors.

The 120 km race witnessed the participation of the young jockey, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa expressed his thanks and gratitude to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his support, extending congratulations to HH on winning first place in the championship and the victory of the Royal Team in the 160 and 120 km races.
