HMC Announces New Measures on Outpatient Appointment Booking in Hospitals

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has announced a set of new measures to enhance the process of outpatient appointment booking and improve patients' access to healthcare more quickly.

The new measures include implementing a new electronic system for managing and booking appointments, and establishing separate departments for referrals and medical appointments at HMC hospitals, which operate under the supervision of appointment management teams, in coordination with the outpatient department of each hospital.

Commenting on this, Mr. Nasser Al Naimi, Deputy Chief of HMC Quality and Director of Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement, said that the initiative includes a thorough review to determine and resolve issues related to referral, e-triage, in-calling, and appointment booking processes.

Al Naimi pointed out that the new system has several stages since the first stage has witnessed a change in the appointment system in seven healthcare facilities. They include Ambulatory Care Center, Hamad General Hospital, Al Wakra Hospital, Al Khor Hospital, Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, National Center for Cancer Care and Research, Women's Wellness and Research Center, as well as the Bone and Joint Center and Hamad Dental Center, while the project implementation in the remaining hospitals this year will be followed up on, as he explained.
