The Iraqi Media Network affirmed that combating the scourge of drugs is a responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of all sectors, and its danger is no less dangerous than the threat of terrorism.
The head of the IMN, Nabil Jassim, said, during the dialogue session "the media is a main partner in drug control" organized by the Special Parliamentary Committee for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances today, Tuesday, that "this is an important initiative of the Parliamentary Committee for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances to manage the dialogue session and discuss one of the most serious threats facing the societies and states".
He added, "In recent years, this phenomenon has emerged remarkably and frighteningly against the youth segment in particular, until the statistics of drug abusers and traffickers reached numbers the likes of which Iraq had not witnessed before, and this requires measures, procedures, and concerted efforts of various sectors, whether media, educational, security, family, and others, in order to immunize our children and protect them from this epidemic, based on our national responsibility and duty to consolidate moral, religious and human concepts in order to increase the space of awareness among young people.
He explained, "The media has great importance and influence, but it is not sufficient to reduce or eliminate this phenomenon if there is no large campaign involving all state institutions, civil society organizations, and educational institutions to address this phenomenon, which threatens real security more than any other manifestations," stressing that " This phenomenon is no less dangerous than the phenomenon of terrorism, which will be defeated if all efforts are combined." / End
