In a message to his Iraqi counterpart, Abu Mazen stresses the need to stop the aggression immediately

The spokesman for the presidency, member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, delivered a letter from the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, to his Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, today, Monday, in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iraq, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi. During his meeting with the Iraqi President at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad, Abu Rudeineh conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas and his thanks for Iraq's firm and supportive positions towards the Palestinian people and their just cause in all international forums, appreciating Iraq's efforts in providing treatment to those wounded in the ongoing Israeli aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip. In his message, the President stressed the State of Palestine's keenness to strengthen and consolidate fraternal relations between Palestine and Iraq, stressing the importance of activating ministerial committees between the two countries, for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples. He reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, and the comprehensive aggression to which our Palestinian people are being subjected in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The President reiterated the Palestinian position on the necessity of stopping the aggression immediately, withdrawing completely from the Gaza Strip, accelerating the entry of aid into the entire Gaza Strip, preventing displacement, stopping Israeli attacks in the West Bank, and implementing international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative to end the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital. The President affirmed the State of Palestine's determination to obtain full membership in the United Nations, stressing the importance of supporting this endeavour and supporting the legitimate Palestinian rights to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. In his messag e, he addressed the difficult economic conditions that the State of Palestine is going through, as a result of the ongoing aggression and the occupation government's withholding of Palestinian clearance funds. In turn, the Iraqi President affirmed his country's position in support of the just Palestinian cause, and its standing by the Palestinian people until the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital Source: Maan News Agency
