Independent Committee Calls for Cooperation to Uncover Truth in Syrian Coast Events

Doha: Spokesperson for the National Independent Committee for Investigating and Fact-finding on the Syrian Coast Events, Yasser Al Farhan, called for collective cooperation to uncover the truth and advance justice. He stated that the committee had accessed all affected areas and observed that the region remains unsafe due to the presence of armed remnants of the previous regime.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a press conference published by the Syrian News Agency Tuesday, Al Farhan noted that the committee interviewed hundreds of residents and witnesses in Latakia, surveyed nine sites, and recorded 95 testimonies in accordance with legal standards, despite the risks posed by movement in conflict zones due to the presence of armed groups.

He explained that in response to the events that occurred on the Syrian coast from March 6-8 and beyond, the committee began its work by organizing its internal regulations and assigning tasks to its members. Al Farhan added that the committee’s experts analyzed 93 pieces of digital evidence, either publicly available or acquired directly, as part of their efforts to clarify the facts and identify those involved.

Syrian President Ahmed Al Sharaa announced the formation of a high investigation committee on March 9 to investigate the incidents in western Syria.
