INSS arrests (39) accused belong to Qurban deviant group

The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS)arrested 39 accused belong to Qurban group. INSS said in a statement that its detachments in Wasit Governorate, according to judicial arrest warrants, arrested (4) defendants belonging to one of the deviant religious movements that call themselves (Qurban group). It added, "The arrest took place after receiving intelligence information indicating that the defendants were inside a small tent near the processions during the visit of the tenth of Muharram, and they had in their possession pictures belonging to one of the people who had committed suicide earlier. After conducting an investigation with them, they frankly admitted that they belong to this deviant movement." They intended to conduct their extreme ritual by holding a sacrificial lottery, according to which the person who would hang himself to death would be chosen. The statement explained, "In a related context, the INSS's detachments in the governorates of (Basra, Muthanna, and Diwaniyah), after obtaining judicial approvals, arrested (35) defendants belonging to the same extremist movement." The statement confirmed, "The accused were referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law." Source: National Iraqi News Agency
