INSS seizes (653) communication devices inside Iraqi prisons

The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced today, Tuesday, the seizure of (653) communication devices inside Iraqi prisons. The INSS stated in a statement that "based on intelligence information, the Iraqi National Security Service detachments in the reform departments and after obtaining judicial approvals were able to search several prisons in several governorates in coordination with the Ministry of Justice," indicating that "during the inspection, an attempt to enter prohibited items was detected while relatives visit of one of the detainees, and seized narcotic substances, where those involved were arrested." INSS added that "the result of those operations was the confiscation of (653) phones and (330) SIM cards that were present with inmates inside the prisons." The statement continued that "during the inspection operations, (9) blackmail and violations by workers were also monitored," noting that "all the seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary measur es."
