A report issued by Ookla, a global leader in network intelligence and connectivity insights, praised the performance of the mobile phone network and the Internet during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, pointing out that the network was not affected by the increasing number of users during the tournament.
The report indicated that there were no problems or disturbances in the Internet, despite the network's performance reaching its peak.
The report added that the World Cup, which was hosted by the State of Qatar from November 20 to December 18, is the first edition in which the fifth generation (5G) networks were used, explaining that the competitive market environment favoring investment, which is supervised by the Communications Regulatory Authority, reaped its profits, along with firm commitments from both operators (Ooredoo and Vodafone - Qatar) to roll out 5G networks in all densely populated areas and all places associated with the World Cup.
