Iraq Participates In The WHO Summit And Confirms Its Support For The Palestinian Cause

Baghdad, The Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, participated today, Tuesday, in the World Summit of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization, the 77th session, held in Geneva, stressing Iraq's support for the Palestinian cause . The ministry stated in a statement, 'Al-Hasnawi affirmed in his speech at the conference Iraq's support for the Palestinian cause and its demand for a unified international position for an immediate ceasefire and the initiation of a global campaign to relieve the Gaza Strip,' noting that 'the first batch of wounded and sick Palestinians was received for treatment in Iraq based on the Prime Minister's directive, 'stressing readiness to receive other batches.' Al-Hasnawi pointed out, "The Iraqi government's program placed health among its priorities through a fair budget that contributed to providing medicines, medical supplies, and modern devices to health institutions with their various specializations. Primary health care in Iraq also receives great attention, in addition to programs for prevention, rehabilitation, treatment, and integration of qualified people into society in cooperation with the United Nations Against Crime and Drugs and the World Health Organization. Al-Hasnawi added, 'In cooperation with the World Health Organization, we were able to reduce the maternal mortality rate during the past twenty years by approximately 70% for mothers and 50% for children.'
