Doha: Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his counterparts from Egypt and Turkiye, Badr Abdelatty and Hakan Fidan respectively, discussed the evolving security situation in the region and efforts to de-escalate regional tensions in phone calls.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry released a statement indicating that Hussein and his Egyptian counterpart addressed preparations for the upcoming meeting of Arab foreign ministers within the framework of the Arab League. The agenda was a focal point of discussion, with both sides emphasizing the need for it to encompass a range of issues that reflect the magnitude of the challenges facing the region.
In a separate conversation, the Iraqi Foreign Minister engaged with his Turkish counterpart to discuss the evolving security situation and several issues of mutual interest.
During their call, the two ministers reviewed the security situation in Baghdad, particularly in the aftermath of the attack on the Iraqi national intelligence service headquarters. They also discussed measures being taken to enhance stability and protect official institutions.
Additionally, the two sides exchanged views on the ongoing war in the region and its repercussions for regional security. Both parties stressed the importance of joint coordination to confront current challenges. They emphasized the need to intensify efforts and joint action to push for a ceasefire, which would contribute to containing the escalation and enhancing stability in the region.
