Iraqi regional expert selected for COP 27

The Conference of the Parties to the Climate (COP 27) nominated a member of the Iraqi negotiating delegation as a regional expert representing the region in the international expert team to work on preparing a global report to achieve the global goal of adaptation and prepare indicators for achieving food and water security. The Ministry of Water Resources stated in a statement that the candidate "Saddam Qahtan Wahid holds a doctorate and post-doctorate degree from Colorado State University, a pioneer in the field of climate change and water resources, and has more than 15 international research papers published in water resources engineering and hydrology in light of the effects of climate change." It indicated that "the number of experts in this team is 78 international experts. The number of candidates for the expert team was more than 600 international experts nominated from all countries under the Paris Agreement, and the selection process was carried out by the Secretariat of the Paris Framework Conv ention, which took more than two months in the selection process."
