Israeli Occupation Forces Maintain Closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque for 24th Day

Jerusalem: The Israeli occupation forces have continued to close Al-Aqsa Mosque and ban the access of worshipers for the 24th consecutive day by allegedly linking the security situation with the US-Israeli war on Iran.

According to Qatar News Agency, this measure marks a significant development, as Al-Aqsa Mosque has not experienced a complete closure since 1967 during the holy month of Ramadan, nor has there been a total deprivation of religious rituals in this manner. The Palestinian WAFA News Agency reported on the situation, highlighting the severity of the closure.

Occupation forces had previously prevented Palestinians from performing Taraweeh prayers during last Ramadan in several neighborhoods of occupied Jerusalem. They deployed around Damascus Gate and Herod's Gate, forcing worshipers to leave the area in an attempt to disperse them and prevent any gatherings for prayer.

The situation is compounded by a heavy deployment of forces around Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City. Occupation forces have imposed strict restrictions on movement, closed several gates, and prevented gatherings. These measures have also affected Waqf staff, with a reduction in the number allowed to enter, impacting the daily management of the mosque.

The ongoing closure is part of broader escalating restrictions, coinciding with a comprehensive lockdown on the West Bank and rising regional tensions.
