List of Qualifiers for ‘Mthayel’ Nabati Poetry Competition Final Completed

Doha: The ninth round of 'Mthayel' Nabati Poetry Competition organized by the Qatar Poetry Center of the Ministry of Culture under the theme of ethics have evidence has been concluded in Darb Al Saai Theater, Umm Salal. The event is set to continue until December 2024. In a statement on Saturday, the ministry stated that poet Saeed Fahd Al Sabouq qualified from the ninth and final stage, thus completing the list of finalists. The list comprises a phalanx of poets, namely Omar Al Wad'ani, Hamad Jaber Al Jarhab, Mohammed Majid Al Juhani, Sultan Bandar Al Ajmi, Saeed bin Ali Al Ofair Al Marri, Faisal Namas Al Riyahi, Abdullah Nasser Al Subaie, and Salem Ali Al Hawl. The qualifiers will compete for the final to receive a grand prize of QR million for the poet who is crowned with the first place, with winner of the second place receiving QR200,000. Additionally, winners of the third to the fifth place, each will receive QR100,000. Members of the jury committee, Hamad bin Saleh Al Marri and Hamad bin Abdullah Al Naemi from Qatar, Widan Al Marikhi from Saudi Arabia, Mishal Al Zubi from Kuwait, and Hamoud bin Wahqa from Oman, expressed their gratitude for the prominent level of competition in this round. They noted that the poems were so profound that they elevate the standard of poetry in society, along with the promising talents these poems will generate. Winner of the ninth stage of the competition the poet Saad Al Sabouq said is he extremely happy after being qualified for the final. He affirmed that this greatest victory stemmed from his participation with a phalanx of the best poets in the region before a high-level jury committee, declaring his readiness for the final. Director of the Publications and Artistic Works Department at the Ministry of Culture, Poet Mubarak Al Khalifa, underscored the committee's readiness to present a conclusion that best reflects the efforts made over the past year, unveiling many surprises that will make this momentous day extraordinary in the world of poetry . Al Khalifa stated that the contest called on poets to write on topics that highlight values and precepts to promote the role of poetry in the society not merely a reflection of the self. He talked about the wide participation of poets from various countries of the region, indicating that the competition strives to support poets who have not been qualified for the final, as their names will be saved to be able to participate in forthcoming seasons. For his part, Director of Poetry Center (Diwan Al Arab) and supervisor of 'Mthayel' competition Poet Shabib bin Arar Al Nuaimi said he glad for reaching the final with 9 innovative competitors who created positive poems which culminated in producing effective and real poems on which they will compete to mark the Qatar National Day, while the topic on which poets will compete will be announced in coming period. In addition, Qatar Poetry Center stated that the qualified nine poems will have one project at the Gulf and Arab levels, affirming that the competition will continue annually to consolidate moral values and award the creative poet in the society. Poet Shabib bin Arar Al Nuaimi said the competition is the greatest gift to society by bringing together 45 powerful poets who have competed in a nine-stage process. He noted that these poets consistently promote thought throughout Qatar and the Gulf.
