Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the extraordinary session of the Council of the Arab League at the level of foreign ministers.
It was held at the request of Palestine and Morocco to discuss the dangerous escalation in Gaza.
The meeting was chaired by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates and President of the current session.
Ahmed Gheit, Arab League Secretary-General was present.
The Council of Foreign Ministers of Arab States adopted a resolution calling for the immediate cessation of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and the escalation in surrounding areas.
It urged all parties to exercise restraint and warned of the catastrophic humanitarian and security consequences of the persistence and expansion of the escalation.
The resolution called for urgent action in cooperation with the international community and as per international law to protect the region's security and stability from the danger of expanding violence cycles.
The resolution condemned killing and targeting civilians on both sides, stressing the importance of protecting civilians in line international law and humanitarian principles. It stressed the importance of releasing prisoners and detainees.
The resolution also emphasised the importance of achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace that fulfills the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to have their independent, sovereign state on the borders of July 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, and live in security alongside Israel; based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace initiative.
