The Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee for Securing the Arbaeen visit, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, held an expanded meeting with a number of leaders and supporting agencies in the capital, Baghdad, to discuss the latest preparations for the success of the million-person visit. A statement by the Ministry of Interior stated: "The Minister of Interior, after his meeting in Diyala Governorate, held a meeting at the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command in the presence of the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, the Commander of the Land Forces, the Chairman of the Service Committee for the Arbaeen visit, the Undersecretary of the Baghdad Municipality, and a number of security leaders and supporting agencies, to discuss the latest preparations for the success of this Arbaeen visit." It added that "during this meeting, the deployment of the security forces assigned to this duty and the preparation of all axes with all requirements were discussed. The Minister listened to a brief explanation of the most important measures taken to secure the Arbaeen visit, directing reliance on intelligence efforts and unifying security efforts, and issued a set of recommendations that would ensure the success of this visit, in which millions of visitors from inside and outside the country and those heading to Karbala participate." The statement added, "The attendees raised a number of topics related to the security and service aspects to ensure the provision of the best services to visitors and to coordinate and intensify efforts in conjunction with the approach of this blessed visit."
