Many ministries and government agencies marked the Garangao Night, celebrated on the 14th day of Ramadan.
The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) held a remarkable celebration, as part of its Ramadan activities, to consolidate the customs associated with the authentic Qatari heritage, and to introduce new generations to the popular heritage and traditions inherited in the blessed month of Ramadan that promote love, compassion and giving in the hearts of children. Hundreds of families of citizens and residents - along with their children clad in traditional clothes- flocked to Katara, which was decorated with bright and sparkling lights.
The Ministry of Interior's (MOI) Community Police Department distributed Garangao gifts to bring joy and happiness to children. The Community Police Department and the Establishments and Authorities Security Department, represented by the "You Are Important" initiative, also participated in the Garangao Night celebrations, organized by Al Arabi Sports Club, with the aim of reviving the customs and traditions associated with the authentic Qatari heritage. A number of ministries and civil society institutions participated in the activities that included a number of entertainment and heritage competitions, popular cuisine, national anthems and handicrafts.
The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal', represented by the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places, in cooperation with Qatar Tourism, Qatar Airways and Ooredoo, organized a special event to celebrate Garangao Night, in the Doha Corniche Square. The event was attended by representatives of the organizing agencies, in addition to the representatives and affiliates of the Shafallah Center and the Orphan Care Center (Dreama), to contribute to introducing these children to cultural heritage and developing their social and life skills.
Al Noor Center for the Blind organized a festive event, in cooperation with the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority, as part of a number of activities offered by the center to its members with the aim of enhancing their cognitive abilities and strengthening their association with popular events through targeted and distinctive methods.
The Old Doha Port management held a group of popular activities that suit different age groups, in addition to distributing gifts and sweets to children and visitors, as part of the port's commitment to preserving the authentic Qatari culture and its ancient heritage and enhancing interaction among the local community.
