Doha: The Ministry of Labour, in collaboration with the Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants (QACPA), held a workshop on "Internal Auditing Standards" to improve the financial accounting skills of the national workforce. The goal is to enhance their personal and professional skills, educate them on current internal auditing methods, and get them ready for the evolving requirements of the accounting sector in the labour market. The Ministry of Labour's training session aligns with the goals of the Third National Development Strategy by aiming to enhance the skills and participation of the national workforce in various industries and jobs, as well as improving their competitiveness in the private sector. The course included introducing participants to the general framework of the internal control system, methods and means of evaluating the internal control system, audit methods and evidence, and rules for designing internal control over operations. Participants were also trained on the mechanisms and skills of financial auditing and internal control over cash operations, financial auditing and internal control over purchasing and stores, expenses and revenues, internal audit methodology according to the audit tasks, how to build the report and the elements of formulating its observations and evaluating the organisation's governance process. It is worth mentioning that the Third National Development Strategy, the final phase of the Qatar National Vision 2030, aims to radically transform a more productive labour market, establish a better-educated and more motivated talent base, and employ more than 20 percent of the national workforce in the private sector.
