The Purebred Arabian THI QAR (AF Albahar x Clairvoyant), owned by Mohammed bin Fahad Al Attiyah, broke her maiden on her third career start when taking the Prix Magnesie, a Maiden for three-year-olds, at Toulouse on Monday, October 4th.
Trained by Xavier Thomas-Deameulte, the bay filly showed a good attitude on her first attempt at 2,100m and was given a determined ride by jockey Valentin Seguy.
Quickly away from the stalls, the blinkered THI QAR disputed the lead with HAZAL (Dahess) through the opening stages of the race. Once in the back straight, THI QAR slotted in behind HAZAL as the nine-strong field went a steady gallop. Turning for home, the leaders were tightly bunched, but THI QAR travelled strongly. Once in the straight, IKRAM DU LOUP (No Risk Al Maury) made a move against the rail and kicked for home. She was quickly followed by THI QAR and HAZAL and the latter took over 200m from home. THI QAR battled hard and passed the post a nose clear of HAZAL. SARHH DU LOUP (No Risk Al Maury) made steady headway all the way up the straight and finished well to take third.
Bred by her owner Mohammed bin Fahad Al Attiyah, THI QAR is by Haras De Thouars stallion AF Albahar (Amer). Her dam Clairvoyant (Tahar De Candelon) was unplaced in two starts. She has also produced Group 3 (PA) winner SNIPER DE MONLAU (Calin Du Loup), who was also placed second at Group 1 (PA).
