Doha: The Traffic Week 2026 commenced on Sunday with a traffic awareness exhibition orchestrated by the Ministry of Interior (MOI), represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, at Place Vendome Mall, featuring participation from relevant entities. The event is designed to enhance road safety and promote a culture of safe road use.
According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition was launched by Director General of Traffic Brigadier Jabr Ali Al Kubaisi, with the presence of Director of the Non-Communicable Disease Prevention Programs Department at the Ministry of Public Health Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, accompanied by several directors, officers from the MOI, and representatives of participating entities.
The exhibition integrates the 38th Unified GCC Traffic Week under the theme "I Cross Safely," along with World Traffic Day and Arab Traffic Week under the theme "Slow Down. We Are Waiting for You." Events are set to continue until Friday, featuring awareness and interactive activities to foster understanding of traffic laws and road etiquette.
Brigadier Jabr Ali Al Kaabi highlighted that the convergence of these three occasions bolsters awareness efforts and supports initiatives aimed at reducing accidents and safeguarding lives. He noted that the advancement of traffic services aligns with the MOI's strategic goal of improving service quality. Traffic services accessible through the "Metrash" application have expanded to 85 services, with over 552,000 transactions completed in 2025, demonstrating the growth and efficiency of digital services.
The Director General of Traffic also expressed gratitude to the participating entities for their cooperation and contributions to supporting awareness efforts, emphasizing that road safety is a collective responsibility that starts with adherence to the law and that showing respect on the road is a form of valuing human life.
