QM Unveils May 2026 Programmes Across Art, Heritage, Design and Community Spaces

Doha: Qatar Museums (QM) announced its May 2026 programme of public activities, featuring a curated selection of workshops, talks, and family-focused sessions across its museums and creative spaces. According to Qatar News Agency, the Museum of Islamic Art will offer a series of programmes focused on calligraphy, creativity, and environmental awareness. This includes calligraphy workshops such as Nasta'liq Intermediate for Children and Youth on May 2, 9, 16, and 23, as well as Ruq'ah Intermediate for Women from May 3 to 6. The museum will also host the Planet Kids Club: Space on May 19, a monthly programme that combines storytelling and craft activities, encouraging children to learn about sustainability and creative reuse. The National Museum of Qatar will continue to highlight the nation's heritage through programmes connecting audiences with traditional crafts, history, and archaeology. Activities include Al Naqda Embroidery for Women from May 3 to 5, which introduces participants to the cultural importa nce of Naqdah embroidery and focuses on traditional techniques using silver threads. Additionally, the Architecture in the Old Palace Forum on May 10 will convene experts to discuss the architectural and historical significance of the Old Palace as part of the museum's 50th anniversary. Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art's May programme supports artistic development through practical sessions and discussions inspired by modern Arab art. This includes weekly Art Lessons with Ismail Azzam every Sunday and Tuesday, focusing on portrait techniques, and the Archiving Folds course on May 3, 6, 9, and 10, which combines gallery-based learning with hands-on sculptural work. Teens can also join a creative course during International Museum Week on May 21, focusing on upcycling, customization, and self-expression through the art of fashion. M7's May programme focuses on fashion, design, and creative practice, opening opportunities for both emerging and established designers. Events include Designers Weekend on May 8 a nd 9, Crafting and Communicating Fashion Narratives Masterclass from May 10 to 13, and Shape Your Style: A Body Morphology Workshop on May 19. Liwan Design Studios and Labs will present four creative workshops in ceramics, digital fabrication, pottery, and experimental printing. Highlights include Design Your Own Eid Set for Gifting on May 12, Intro to Digital Fabrication from May 17 to 21, Poetical/Friendship Quotes on a Mug and Plate Set on May 20, and Seasoning Prints - A Multitone Anthotype Workshop on May 27 and 28. Qatar Museums' Archaeology Department will present recent archaeological achievements and upcoming projects at the National Museum of Qatar. Meanwhile, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum will continue to engage families and children through activities like the Golden Medal Design Workshop on May 15, and storytelling programmes in English on May 29 and Arabic on May 31.
