Ramallah - Ma'an - The Monetary Authority renewed its confirmation that the funds of depositors in banks operating in Palestine are safe and secure, and that there is no direct impact on them, the deposits, or the strength and status of Palestinian banks from the repeated threats to sever relations with Israeli banks.
She stressed in a statement on Monday that these threats also have no impact on the continuation of banking relations with the outside world in all currencies.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich had threatened to isolate Palestinian banks by not extending guarantees to Israeli banks dealing with them against potential lawsuits, as part of 'punitive' steps against the Palestinian Authority in response to the decision of European countries to recognize the State of Palestine.
