Abu samra: HE Minister of Municipality and chairman of the committee for follow-up on the implementation of food security policies, Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, emphasized the importance of the Abu Samra border crossing as a key element in ensuring the smooth entry of goods into Qatar. The crossing plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient food supply chains and stabilizing local markets.
According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was made during an inspection tour by HE Minister Al Attiyah at the Land Customs Department at the Abu Samra border crossing. The tour included HE Chairman of the General Authority of Customs, Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, and focused on reviewing customs workflows and procedures for monitoring and auditing food shipments.
HE Minister Al Attiyah acknowledged the General Authority of Customs for its efforts in expediting inspection and clearance processes, which enhances the efficiency of food supply chains. He also appreciated the Permanent Committee for the Management of the Abu Samra border crossing for organizing operations and maintaining coordination among concerned entities.
The inspection included visits to customs facilities such as food commodity inspection platforms and X-ray screening mechanisms for trucks. The delegation reviewed customs initiatives aimed at speeding up clearance procedures, ensuring a steady flow of goods to the local market.
A visual presentation from the Land Customs Department highlighted the role of customs in securing the entry of goods into Qatar. It also showcased the collaboration with relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology.
Concluding the tour, HE Minister Al Attiyah affirmed that joint efforts at the Abu Samra crossing and other entry points are crucial for stabilizing local markets and securing food supplies.
