National Day/ Head of NCSA to QNA: National Day Commemoration of Steadfastness and Strength

HE President of the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) Eng. Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Maliki said that Qatar National Day is a cherished occasion to commemorate the principles of steadfastness, strength and determination inspired by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, the founder of the State of Qatar, and an opportunity to renew the determination to continue the path of progress and development of the nation. In a statement to Qatar News Agency , HE the President of the National Cyber Security Agency extended his congratulations to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, and to the esteemed government and the Qatari people on the occasion of Qatar National Day. He pointed out that this year's National Day coincides with the State achieving a wide range of accomplishments at internal and external levels, enhancing further the position of regional and international status of Qatar, enabling it to achieve a prominent position in many global indicators, and making it a desirable and secure global destination for investment and tourism. Regarding the achievements of the National Cyber Security Agency and its future plans, HE the NCSA President affirmed that the agency is aware of the responsibilities and challenges it faces, and works diligently and continuously around the clock to preserve and secure the cyberspace of the State of Qatar and provide the best cybersecurity systems. He mentioned that the agency recently organized a cyber maneuver with the participation of about 145 entities and vital facilities in the country. The aim was to assess the readiness of these institutions to address cyber risks from the perspective of readiness for the cybersecurity triad, represented by the human element, technological element, and procedures and policies. His Excellency added that the agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, launched the "Educational Cybersecurity Curricula", making Qatar the first country in the region to innovate and introduce educational curricula in the field of cybersecurity. This project aims to establish the concept of digital citizenship, equip students with the basics of protecting personal data, raise awareness about general concepts related to cybersecurity and digital safety, and prepare a future generation of Qatari youth capable of dealing efficiently and safely with technological tools. His Excellency expressed pride in Qatar obtaining accreditation for issuing Information Security Certificates for electronic devices and software. Qatar is the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to issue these globally recognized certificates from the committee designated by the members of the Common Global Information Security Standards Agreement. He emphasized that the agency has moved forward in providing a large number of programs and training courses aimed at enhancing the capabilities of individuals and institutions in preserving and securing information. The agency has also conducted dozens of workshops targeting various segments of society and different entities. The agency is committed to strengthening the capabilities of individuals in protecting themselves and using best safe practices in the world of the internet and technology. His Excellency explained that the agency has activated plans to protect and secure major events held in the State of Qatar, such as the AFC Asian Cup, the Qatar Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha . This is for the purpose of pre-emptive and effective response to potential cyber threats and breaches. As part of enhancing and raising the level of international cooperation with official organizations in friendly and sisterly countries, HE Al Maliki noted that the National Cyber Security Agency has participated in many international forums specialized in the field of cybersecurity. During these participations, the agency presented its role in protecting and securing cyberspace, raising the readiness of various entities, and reviewing Qatar's pioneering experience in securing major events, including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. In conclusion, HE Eng. Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Maliki affirmed that cadres and teams of the National Cyber Security Agency work diligently around the clock to ensure the enhancement and security of the country's cyberspace based on the best global practices.
