National Security seizes large quantities of smuggled medicines in 3 governorates

The National Security Service announced the seizure of large quantities of smuggled medicines, some of which were stored in (health centers) in 3 governorates. The Service stated in a statement: "The National Security Service detachments in Baghdad, after obtaining judicial approvals, according to accurate intelligence information and field follow-up, seized a house used to store medicines and medical supplies in an illegal manner." It continued: "The route of one of the vehicles was monitored after transporting the medicines from a house to a warehouse for the purpose of storing them, and after collecting sufficient information and evidence, two suspects were arrested and about (116) thousand medicine boxes were confiscated inside the house. It added: "Our detachments in Salah al-Din Governorate seized a building consisting of (13) rooms inside which were about (30) tons of smuggled medicines that were stored in violation of health regulations, and some of them were extracted from (health)". In Nineveh G overnorate, two warehouses were seized that were in violation of medicine storage, inside which were more than (75) thousand prohibited medicine pills. A vehicle was also seized containing about (140) thousand medicine boxes that its driver and his companions tried to hide under banana boxes, so the medicines were confiscated and the two people were arrested". It pointed out that "the accused were referred with the seized items to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures in accordance with the law".
