NCSA Hosts Workshops to Enhance Cybersecurity Awareness for Students with Disabilities

Doha: The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA)’s National Cyber Security Academy conducted a series of awareness-raising workshops in several schools specifically for students with disabilities, as part of its Cyber Eco project for the academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025. The initiative aimed to provide integrated cyber awareness and foster a secure community in terms of cybersecurity.

According to Qatar News Agency, the workshops were conducted in four public schools for students with disabilities, with training tools tailored to the needs of the participants. These sessions covered topics such as the safe use of the internet and technological applications. Delivered by expert trainers, the workshops also included insights into global advancements in cybersecurity, addressing issues like phishing, spoofing attacks, online fraud, web bots, and content security policy.

Dalal Al Aqidi, Director of the National Cyber Excellence Department at NCSA, mentioned that the agency is committed to strengthening students’ capabilities in knowledge, awareness, and training on the safe use of technology. Al Aqidi highlighted that the agency aims to integrate students with disabilities into daily digital activities, ensuring privacy and digital security.

Al Aqidi further stated that NCSA plans to expand the number of targeted schools and increase field trips, awareness workshops, and educational stages for students with disabilities. The academy’s programs aim to enhance overall cyber awareness across various community segments, including students, women, families, dignitaries, and expatriate workers.

The NCSA is dedicated to providing educational, training, and recreational experiences through innovative tools that combine educational fundamentals with recreational activities. This approach is designed to maximize the impact of the content on students at different educational stages.

The agency has offered a range of tools to enhance students’ capabilities, including training toolkits on critical cyber topics, guidelines for teachers and parents, a comprehensive digital safety guide, cyber games, commemorative gifts, and graduation projects presented by students at the project’s conclusion.
