North Korea intends to deploy new missile launchers this year

The Korean Central News Agency announced on Saturday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a live fire test of a 'technologically modernized' missile system. This comes at a time when experts believe that the country that possesses nuclear weapons may be in the process of accelerating the testing and production of artillery and missiles before sending these weapons to Russia for use in the Ukraine war. Pyongyang said in February that it had developed a new control system for 240 mm rocket launchers, which would lead to a 'qualitative change' in its defensive capabilities, and last month it conducted a test launch of new missiles. The Korean Central News Agency reported on Saturday that the new launch system will be 'deployed to units of the Korean People's Army as alternative equipment (to others currently used) between 2024 and 2026.'
