Planning Ministry: The end of this month is set as the date for conducting the experimental general population census

The Ministry of Planning has set the end of this month as the date for conducting the experimental general population census. The Head of the Statistics Authority - Head of the Census Operations Room, Dhia Awwad Kadhem, said in a statement: 'The field training event, which was implemented by the Statistics Authority and Geographic Information Systems in Districts 220 and 222 in the Salhiya neighborhood of the Karkh district in the capital, Baghdad, was completed and successful, and which continued for two days, as part of the Authority's preparations to conduct the trial census at the end of this month.' He added, "The second day witnessed a session being held for field workers to discuss the most prominent observations and problems they faced during the implementation of the activities and to identify appropriate solutions to ensure the smooth and effective conduct of the census process," noting, "The selection of the Salhiya area came due to its diverse population and the presence of various segments of society in it, it was divided into 18 squares or blocks, each square representing one of the governorates of Iraq. He pointed out that "the training event enjoyed great cooperation and interaction from the residents of the region and the security services, thanks to prior coordination between the operations command," praising "the role of the relevant security agencies, which provided a calm atmosphere that helped carry out the experiment calmly and successfully." He pointed out, "The event is important because it represents an important step in preparing for the general population census, which will be implemented at the end of next November and will provide vital data that will contribute to better planning for Iraq's future.
