Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani affirmed the government’s support for the programs of international humanitarian organizations operating in Iraq.
The media office of the Prime Minister stated: “Al-Sudani met today, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Sophie Helen Reese, and during the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom, where Al-Sudani welcomed the Duchess and offered congratulations on the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III, and he also appreciated the British role in supporting Iraq in its war against terrorism.”
Al-Sudani indicated that Iraq has made great strides in terms of removing the effects and human pain left by terrorism, and has made efforts to support Yazidi women and the rest of the components, who have been subjected to the most heinous injustice and assault, and has launched programs to protect them and provide them with all forms of support, in addition to bringing criminals to justice and prosecuting them to obtain just punishment.
He pointed to the government’s support for civil society organizations and the programs of international humanitarian organizations operating in Iraq, and its keenness to implement human rights principles, support freedoms, and compensate victims.
For her part, the Duchess of Edinburgh expressed her happiness at visiting Iraq, praising the efforts of the Iraqi government in the humanitarian field and the adoption of the national strategy to support women, as well as openness to cooperation with international organizations and learning about the experiences of countries in dealing with victims of war crimes.
