PM Discusses With UNICEF Executive Director Int’l Laws Related To Childhood

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received, yesterday evening, Sunday, Baghdad time, the Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Catherine Russell, on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in its seventy-ninth session.

The meeting witnessed, according to a statement by the Prime Minister's Office, discussions on the issues and rights of children and the international laws related to them, and the progress achieved by Iraq in this field.

The Prime Minister urged the international organization to cooperate with the Iraqi private sector in the field of education and higher education, stressing the readiness of Iraqi governmental and private universities to benefit maximum from cooperation with UNICEF in all available fields.

For her part, Russell expressed her appreciation for meeting the Prime Minister to open broader work paths and partnership between Iraq and the programs of the international organization. She expressed her welcome and readiness to respond to Al-Sudani's invitation to visit Iraq, noting: "The organization has recorded important developments in the field of family and child in Iraq during the work of the current government."
