Prime Minister Holds Strategic Phone Call with Iran’s Foreign Minister

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani held a phone call on Sunday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi. The call focused on discussing efforts to achieve peace and enhance security and stability in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar's full support for the ongoing efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement to end the crisis. He emphasized the need for all parties to respond to these efforts in a manner that contributes to achieving sustainable peace and the desired stability in the region.

HE the Prime Minister stressed that freedom of navigation is a well-established principle that must not be compromised. He noted that closing the Strait of Hormuz or using it as a pressure card would only deepen the crisis and endanger the vital interests of the region's countries.

His Excellency underscored the importance of adhering to the rules of international law and the principles of good neighborliness. He emphasized the need to prioritize the interests of the region and its people to contribute to strengthening regional and international security and stability, and to support efforts to de-escalate tensions.
