Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received a phone call from HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye Hakan Fidan. During the call, the leaders exchanged condolences over the recent loss of life from both nations following a helicopter crash in Qatari territorial waters.
According to Qatar News Agency, the crash, which resulted from a technical malfunction during a routine mission, claimed the lives of members from the Qatar Armed Forces, the Qatar-Turkiye joint forces, and two Turkish civilian collaborators. The conversation between the two foreign ministers also covered the ongoing military escalation in the region and its implications for both regional and international security.
The officials emphasized the necessity for enhanced coordination to halt the escalation, advocating for a return to negotiations and prioritizing dialogue. They also discussed the importance of preserving global energy security, ensuring freedom of navigation, protecting the environment, and maintaining regional stability.
