Doha: The State of Qatar chaired the 10th meeting of Their Excellencies the Ministers responsible for protecting Integrity and combating corruption in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held on Sunday in Doha. The meeting was chaired by HE President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) Hamad bin Nasser Al Misnad, and attended by Their Excellencies the Ministers and heads of the agencies responsible for protecting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC countries, in addition to HE Assistant Secretary-General for Legislative and Legal Affairs of the GCC Sultan bin Nasser Al Suwaidi. In his speech during the meeting, HE Hamad bin Nasser Al Misnad pointed out the State of Qatar's efforts to prevent and combat corruption by issuing several legislative tools, in addition to the State of Qatar signing memoranda of understanding with friendly countries at the regional and international levels to acquire and exchange expertise. His Excellency said that the State of Qatar is committed to enhancing transparency, combating corruption in all its forms and manifestations, and emphasizing the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 in building national institutions characterized by efficiency, integrity, and transparency. His Excellency noted that the ACTA is working on preparing a draft national strategy to enhance integrity and transparency, which includes public and private sectors, institutions, entities, and civil society, characterized by the highest levels of integrity and transparency. HE President of the ACTA stressed that corruption is one of the biggest challenges facing our countries at the present time, as it affects sustainable development and undermines the foundations of justice and equality. He noted that the meeting represents an important step toward enhancing integration and coordination among anti-corruption agencies in the GCC countries, whose role is pivotal in preserving the GCC national gains and protecting the future of the coming generations. The State of Qatar will host the 2nd meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States on Nov. 26 - 27, 2024. Source: Qatar News Agency
