Qatar Concludes Presidency at Islamic Organization for Food Security Assembly

Doha: The State of Qatar participated in the seventh ministerial session of the General Assembly of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), held on Thursday via videoconference. The session marked the conclusion of Qatar's presidency of the sixth session, with the presidency handed over to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to Qatar News Agency, the delegation was headed by HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah. He expressed Qatar's appreciation to the Republic of Kazakhstan for hosting the current session and commended the efforts of the IOFS General Secretariat and member states in advancing the Organization's objectives. He emphasized Qatar's commitment to food security and sustainable agricultural development during its presidency.

HE Al Attiyah highlighted Qatar's achievements during its leadership, including hosting meetings that contributed to the Strategic Plan for Food Security in OIC Member States for 2026-2035. He stressed the importance of collaboration and innovation in addressing global food challenges and emphasized the need to strengthen the Organization's capacities.

The Minister announced Qatar's support for the IOFS's International Gene Bank initiative, reflecting its ongoing commitment to the Organization's programs. He also pledged full support for Kazakhstan as it takes over the presidency of the General Assembly.
