Qatar Condemns Israel’s Treatment of Palestinians as War Crime

Geneva: The State of Qatar has strongly denounced the actions of Israel in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, stating that arbitrary arrests, torture, and inhuman treatment have become entrenched features of what they perceive as an ongoing genocide perpetrated by Israel. These practices, Qatar argues, constitute grave violations of international law and war crimes.

According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was delivered by Her Excellency Dr. Hend bint Abdalrahman Al Muftah, the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva. Dr. Al Muftah addressed these concerns during an interactive dialogue with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, held within the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Dr. Al Muftah highlighted the severe nature of the crimes against Palestinians, which include torture methods such as starvation, beatings, insults, and denial of healthcare. These actions, she asserted, target vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and women. She emphasized the necessity for the international community to hold those responsible accountable for their actions against the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, Dr. Al Muftah condemned Israel's attempts to undermine the psychological well-being and collective resistance of the Palestinian people. She reaffirmed that these efforts will not deter Palestinians from continuing their struggle for self-determination and the establishment of an independent state within the pre-1967 borders.

Her Excellency expressed gratitude to United Nations Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese for her report, which was critical of the Israeli authorities' refusal to grant her access to the occupied Palestinian territories.
