Qatar Extends Diplomatic Relations and Domestic Initiatives Amidst International Engagements

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has demonstrated Qatar’s commitment to strengthening international relations by sending cables of congratulations to global leaders. On Wednesday, he congratulated HE President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on his new presidential term and HE President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin on the anniversary of Bangladesh’s Independence Day. Similarly, HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani conveyed his congratulations to both presidents, marking Qatar’s diplomatic outreach.

According to Qatar News Agency, the State of Qatar is actively participating in international forums and dialogues. A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, led by HE MOECC Undersecretary Eng. Abdulaziz bin Ahmad bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, is attending the Petersberg Climate Dialogue in Berlin. This reflects Qatar’s commitment to addressing global environmental challenges. Additionally, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting, underscoring the country’s focus on internal governance.

Qatar’s foreign relations are further strengthened through various bilateral meetings. HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met with HE Ambassador of the Republic of Mongolia Sergelen Purev, while HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi engaged with HE Ambassador of the State of Kuwait Khaled Bader Al Mutairi. Furthermore, HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad met with Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa via video conference.

Domestically, Qatar continues to focus on public health and food safety. The Ministry of Public Health announced working hours for the Eid Al-Fitr holiday and launched a regulatory plan to enhance food safety. Meanwhile, Hamad Medical Corporation has made significant progress in organ transplantation, with over 400 kidney transplants performed since 1986. As Eid Al-Fitr approaches, Hamad International Airport is set to handle increased travel traffic efficiently.

In the cultural sector, Qatar Museums is collaborating with the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires to present a major exhibition of Latin American art in the WANA region, opening at the National Museum of Qatar in April as part of the Qatar Argentina and Chile Year of Culture.

Qatar’s commitment to human rights was highlighted by HE National Human Rights Committee Chairperson Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, who noted significant progress across various sectors. This progress aligns with Qatar’s participation in international dialogues and partnerships aimed at fostering global cooperation and cultural exchange.
