Doha: Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) marks today three decades since its establishment, reflecting on a legacy full of milestones that have significantly contributed to solidifying Qatar’s stature as a global hub for excellence in education, research, innovation, and sustainable development.
According to Qatar News Agency, since its inception in 1995, driven by the vision of HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, QF has aimed to build an integrated system that impacts individuals and societies through education, scientific research, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. The foundation helps future generations acquire vital knowledge to address forthcoming challenges.
Over the past thirty years, QF has developed an integrated educational framework that spans all academic stages, establishing six specialized schools, including three International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, and institutions for gifted students and those with special needs. Its schools have enrolled approximately 7,500 students in a supportive academic environment.
QF has also committed to providing world-class higher education through institutions like Awsaj and Renad academies, supporting over 5,700 students at primary and middle school levels. It has hosted six prestigious universities and Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), graduating over 9,900 students who have pursued advanced studies or careers, offering more than 60 academic programs.
Beyond education, QF influences scientific research and innovation, supporting over 3,000 research projects in various fields. Women constitute 49 percent of researchers in the STEM programs, highlighting QF’s dedication to diversity and empowerment.
QF’s education city attracts students from over 119 countries, fostering a culturally rich academic environment. In health care, QF has advanced precision medicine, analyzing over 45,000 DNA samples to enhance understanding of genetic factors in chronic diseases and improve primary health care. It has led research projects to improve early diagnosis and treatment of diseases like cancer and diabetes, benefiting over 6,200 individuals.
In 2023, QF developed 38 AI research projects in collaboration with HBKU, focusing on health care, data analysis, and education. It launched AI training programs to advance technological solutions in Qatar.
QF emphasizes environmental sustainability through initiatives like the “Earthna” research center, promoting eco-friendly practices and organizing over 1,400 events on topics like climate change. Culturally, QF preserves Arab heritage and promotes global dialogue with the Qatar National Library and cultural events drawing participants from over 75 countries.
The foundation also supports sports, establishing facilities and programs for women and youth, and participated in activities during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 to enhance sports as a means of cultural communication.
QF prioritizes empowering women and youth, with women comprising 64 percent of its graduates, and supports entrepreneurship and inclusion for individuals with special needs.
As QF enters its fourth decade, it remains committed to innovation and sustainability, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030, and aims to have a lasting global impact by investing in minds, fostering creativity, and supporting future generations.
