Qatar’s Active Role in 60th Higher Arab Standardization Committee Meeting

Rabat: The State of Qatar participated in the 60th meeting of the Higher Arab Standardization Committee, affiliated with the Arab League’s Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO), held in Rabat, Morocco. The event saw HE Chairperson of the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QGOSM), Eng. Mohammed bin Saud Mohammed Al Musallam, representing Qatar. Al Musallam is also the member representing Qatar in the organization’s standards and metrology center.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting addressed various topics, including the implementation of recommendations from previous meetings. Discussions also covered reports from the general committee for Arab standards, the Arab committee for conformity assessment, and the permanent committee for Arab building codes. Additionally, the development of electronic forums for Arab standards and the implementation of the Arab Halal Program were significant agenda items.

The meeting’s agenda extended to reviewing the outcomes of the follow-up committee for the Arab strategy for standardization and quality 2024-2028. Participants discussed practical steps to coordinate the Arab position in regional and international meetings and forums. The aim is to enhance Arab presence and participation in organizations and blocs working in standardization, metrology, and quality.
