Qatar Museums Unveils Exciting April Activities Across Multiple Venues

Doha: Qatar Museums has announced its April programme featuring a vibrant selection of activities designed to engage families and individuals of all ages. The National Museum of Qatar (NMQ) is hosting a range of engaging activities, celebrating the country’s rich heritage and culture. These include guided tours of its stunning architecture, interactive family explorations, and storytelling sessions.

According to Qatar News Agency, in celebration of the 6th Anniversary of the National Museum of Qatar, museum visitors are invited to enjoy and discover the traditional architecture and lifestyle of Qatar through an ancient air-conditioning system. NMQ is also organizing an interactive adventure through the museum galleries and family exhibits, where children will enhance their knowledge of Qatar’s environment, heritage, and culture by using their problem-solving skills. On the occasion of Families Day in Qatar, the Museum holds a storytelling session: “House of Mud,” a captivating story from the past to discover the culture and traditions of Qatari families.

The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) will host a range of activities in April, featuring several engaging programmes for visitors of all ages, including Story Time at MIA Library with “Peepo” (English) and “Me and the Neighborhood” (Arabic) in addition to engaging story time sessions. MIA will also hold the “Family Day: Shapes in Motion.. Exploring Islamic Geometric Art” and the “Planet Teens,” a monthly programme that connects the museum’s treasures with the mission to protect our planet. MIA Library Book Club will feature the reading of “The Museum of Innocence” by Nobel Prize-winning author Orhan Pamuk. The Museum will also hold the “Mysteries of MIA: A Treasure Hunt Adventure” activity, a treasure hunt challenge to uncover the hidden stories behind MIA’s fascinating objects. At MIA’s Planet Kids Club, children will discover different ways to protect our planet.

Meanwhile, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (QOSM) promises a month of fun, fitness, and learning. From expert-led sessions on World Obesity Day to an obstacle course in collaboration with the Gymnastic Federation, there are opportunities to inspire healthier habits and active living. Families can enjoy a sports-themed treasure hunt for World Book Day and a magical storytelling session for children. The museum’s library will celebrate World Book Day with an exciting sports book treasure hunt. This month’s programme features a read-aloud session for children aged 7-11, creating a magical experience that sparks imagination and fosters a love of reading.

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art offers a variety of creative workshops throughout April, focusing on drawing, rhythm, curating, and artistic expression for participants of all levels. In April, Mathaf presents “Drawing with Ismail Azzam,” art classes designed to teach the basics of drawing, including perspective, measurement, and techniques for capturing light and shadow. The museum’s programme also includes “Drawtastic” – an event that enhances participants’ perceptive focus and hand-eye coordination, and the “Realms of Rhythm” workshop exploring the connection between rhythm and artistic expression. Mathaf will also host the book launch of “Moroccan Modernism” by Holiday Powers and organise various workshops including “Introduction to Curating,” “Colourful Creation,” and “Dorob.”

M7 will host two creative workshops for children and adults, designed to inspire and ignite imagination. These are the “Dollhouse Sewing” workshop and the “Creating a Cyanotype by Outdoor” workshop. Fire Station offers visitors the opportunity to unleash creativity with workshops: “Create mixed-media collages exploring cultural identity,” and “Experiment with innovative printmaking techniques on various surfaces.”
