Qatar Participates in ISOCARP World Planning Congress in Italy

Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality, participated in the 60th World Planning Congress of International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP 2024), which was held in the Italian city of Siena and lasted for five days. The participating Qatari delegation in the conference was headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Urban Planning Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Turki bin Fahad Al Turki. The Qatari delegation participated in a number of working sessions and technical workshops on city planning, and presented a scientific session entitled 'Urban dialogues: social values in development projects.'' It dealt with a comprehensive vision of the nature of Qatari cities and the importance of considering social and family dimensions when planning and designing residential neighborhoods, and the importance of allocating areas for families that take into account the nature of their lives, their requirements, and the various community services they aspire to. The delegat ion also held a coordination meeting with the head of the society under the title 'Qatar and ISOCARP: history and future of technical, scientific and professional cooperation', within the framework of the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Municipality and the ISOCARP, especially since the urban planning sector has been a member of the Society for nearly 10 years. The State of Qatar also hosted the Society's international conference in Doha in 2021 to enhance joint work between the two parties. The 60th ISOCARP World Planning Congress - Reinventing the (In)Visible Cities will be the highlight event of this special year and part of ISOCARPs 60th?World Planning Congress Diamond Anniversary Series, celebrating 60 Local/Inter.years of congresses.
