Qatar’s Role in Global Partnerships Conference Highlighted in London

London: The State of Qatar took part in the Global Partnerships Conference in London, co-hosted by the United Kingdom and the Republic of South Africa. HE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, represented Qatar and contributed as a keynote speaker, focusing on building systems to tackle 21st-century challenges.

According to Qatar News Agency, the conference saw participation from senior officials, ministers, and leaders of development and humanitarian organizations globally. In her address, the Minister emphasized Qatar's commitment to supporting the least developed countries, referencing a USD 60 million grant aimed at development activities and capacity-building projects.

She discussed Qatar's efforts in mediating crises, such as the ceasefire in Gaza and aid facilitation, reuniting Ukrainian children with their families, and the Qatar Fund for Development's assistance to over 70 nations facing food, climate, and debt challenges. Her Excellency noted the need for a cohesive approach combining humanitarian work, development, and peace, criticizing the existing international system's inefficiencies.

Qatar's substantial foreign aid contributions, amounting to USD 4.8 billion in 2024, were highlighted as part of its commitment to global development. Her Excellency called for the rapid implementation of financial commitments from the Second Doha World Summit for Social Development to generate tangible outcomes.

The Minister presented a roadmap for the next decade, advocating for national platforms led by recipient countries, the execution of the Doha Action Plan, and enhancing social protection and human capital development financing. The successful enrollment of over 16 million children in education through the Education Above All Foundation was cited as a model for future initiatives.

She stressed the necessity of humanitarian mediation and access as crucial for development investment flow. Qatar's initiatives, such as the "Humanitarian Diplomacy Initiative," reflect its dedication to being a pivotal partner in global development efforts.
