Doha: As part of Qatar's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support displaced and affected individuals in Syria, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) are collaborating to deliver multi-sector relief aid, including fuel, food, medical supplies, and hygiene kits, amid the ongoing challenges in the country.

According to Qatar News Agency, this initiative is a component of a broader scheme of projects designed to maintain the continuity of essential services for the target populations. Health facilities are a primary focus, receiving fuel to operate power generators. So far, 414,000 liters of fuel have been delivered, from a planned total of 453,500 liters, to numerous hospitals serving approximately 85,000 vulnerable individuals across 11 governorates. These include internally displaced people (IDPs), returnees, female breadwinners, and families with children and older persons.

Further procurements are underway to equip hospitals with essential medications, medical consumables, and laboratory equipment to sustain their operational needs for two months. The program also encompasses relief interventions aimed at alleviating the suffering of affected families.

In terms of food security, food parcels are set to be distributed to 7,380 families, or 37,000 individuals, to meet their basic food requirements for a month. Additionally, 7,380 hygiene kits, containing essential supplies to promote cleanliness and reduce morbidity rates, will be distributed, particularly in underserved regions.

These efforts underscore the humanitarian role played by Qatari organizations in standing in solidarity with the Syrian people and responding to the dire humanitarian situation in Syria. The emergency interventions are geared towards addressing the most urgent needs and making a tangible difference in people's lives.
