QRCS, Stirling Foundation Sign Pact for Sudan Relief

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and The Sterling Foundation signed a USD 150,000 funding agreement to implement a project to improve access to and use of emergency shelter and non-food items for war-affected families in Sudan.

According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement was signed by Assistant Secretary-General for Relief and International Development at QRCS, Dr. Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, and CEO of Sterling Foundation, Edward B. Rowe. The project will be executed by QRCS’s office in Sudan in coordination with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and Sudan’s Ministry of Social Development.

Dr. Ibrahim remarked on the partnership, emphasizing the shared commitment to humanitarian principles and aiding victims of crises and war. He acknowledged The Sterling Foundation’s initiative to support conflict victims in Sudan, a nation enduring a significant humanitarian disaster. He highlighted the plight of innocent civilians who have lost basic necessities due to the war and noted the lack of response from many organizations. Mr. Rowe commended QRCS’s effective humanitarian work in Sudan, which motivated the agreement, citing trust in its resources and capability to conduct structured humanitarian interventions.

The project aims to distribute 709 shelter kits and non-food relief items to benefit 4,254 internally displaced people across Sudan.
