Doha: Qatar University (QU) Graduate Studies Office organized its annual new student orientation, welcoming a new cohort of students into its esteemed programs. The number of students enrolled in the university's graduate programs for the academic semester (Fall 2024) is 529 students distributed across various colleges and specializations that offer a wide range of master's and PhD programs, as well as diploma programs and the PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences. During the orientation, officials from the Graduate Studies Office pointed out that the university's colleges have become pioneers in the field of advanced education locally and regionally, as they offer a wide and exceptional range of graduate programs that combine rigorous academic training with practical research experience, to graduate researchers and professionals who are well-qualified to contribute effectively in their various fields. They stressed the university's commitment to providing a unique educational experience that focuses on research, innovation, and academic excellence, as well as fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that ensures students are prepared for their professional careers and contribute meaningfully to the global academic and research community. In this context, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at QU Prof. Aiman Erbad praised the importance of this orientation for graduate students, emphasizing the university's commitment to creating an enriching and ideal academic environment that fosters development and participation in research and innovation. He noted, "QU welcomes its new graduate students for the Fall 2024 semester in all colleges offering a range of graduate programs." For his part, Dean of Graduate Studies at QU Dr. Ahmad Al Own warmly welcomed the new students and introduced the various services available to them, including academic support, library resources, and academic advising; all designed to facilitate their studies. He also highlighted the importance of time management in the liv es of graduate students, offering valuable advice for a successful and distinguished academic journey. Dr. Ahmad expressed his best wishes for a promising start at QU. In turn, Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies for Student Affairs Ghada Saif Al Kuwari, welcomed the new students and explained a set of key policies that govern graduate student life during their time at the university. She also provided a brief overview of the graduate studies awards.
