Doha: The Russian Ministry of Defense announced Thursday that its air defense systems destroyed five Ukrainian drones over Russian territory last night.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry stated: “Five Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight, with three shot down over Belgorod region and two over Bryansk region.” The Ukrainian armed forces almost daily target the Russian border areas in Crimea and the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh with drones and missiles, aiming to instill fear among civilians.

Russia and Ukraine regularly announce the downing of drones, but these claims cannot be independently verified due to the ongoing war since Feb. 2022.
