The organizing committee of the Samla Race 2024 announced that the competitions of the sixth edition of the race will be held from December 5 to 7, covering a distance of 200 kilometers in 6 stages. This years edition is expected to attract record participation.
This came in a press conference held today at the headquarters of the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM), in the presence of members of the organizing committee.
The race will begin with the swimming stage from Al Ghariya area and to the north, on the sea route specified by the organizing committee, followed by the running stage, which begins immediately after the competitors leave the swimming stage. The third stage is kayaking, followed by mountain biking, shooting and lastly running which is the sixth and final stage of the race.
Samla Race Organizing Committee CEO Azzam Al Mannai stressed during his speech at the conference that this years race carries new challenges for all competitors, as part of the organizing teams efforts to spread awareness of the importance of sports and to prepare a distinguished generation of athletes. He thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports and all partners and sponsors for the support they provided to the sixth edition.
For his part, Director of the Shared Services Department at DAAM, Yousef Mohammed Al Nuaimi, confirmed that the Fund will provide funding for the race, as outlined in a recent agreement with the Ministry of Sports and Youth. He emphasized that this support continues the success of previous editions.
In turn, Chief Administrative Officer of Qatar Insurance Group, Rashid Al Buainain said the group is proud to sponsor this years race again, hoping for a competitive environment marked by sportsmanship and a commitment to social responsibility.
Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Seashore group, Saqr Saeed Al Mohannadi noted that the group is focused on empowering Qatari youth by supporting significant events in Qatar, with the Samla Race exemplifying the spirit of challenge and the vital role of sports in enhancing community bonds.
In his speech, Executive Director of the Jaidah Group, Mohammed Jassim Al Jaidah expressed his happiness at the group being part of this unique experience for the second time, stressing that the Samla Race 2024 is a source of pride for every Qatari.
For his part, Media Advisor to Rafiq Al Darb Company, Ahmed Abdullah, noted their ongoing support for sports, specifically highlighting their commitment to this year's race, its organizers, and participants.
The race organizing committee revealed the prizes for which the participants will compete in the race, provided by DAAM. Three shields were allocated for the first three places, and the winners are to be crowned with gold, silver and bronze medals, in addition to cash prizes amounting to QAR 500,000 for first place, QAR 300,000 for second place, and QAR 200,000 for third place.
Competitors finishing in fourth to tenth place will receive silver medals and QAR 75,000, while those placing eleventh and beyond will be awarded a participation prize of QAR 10,000 for completing the race within the designated time.
