Saudi Cabinet Eyes New Phase of Relations with Iran

Saudi Cabinet said Tuesday it looks forward to a new phase of Saudi-Iranian relations based on common interests and mutual respect.

During a session chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Council was briefed on the steps taken regarding the implementation of the agreement to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries, including the ambassadors of the two countries carrying out their duties.

The two countries announced on the March 10 that they had reached an agreement to resume diplomatic relations, reopen the embassies of the two countries, activate the security cooperation agreement between them, and a general agreement for cooperation in the field of economy, trade, investment, technology, science, culture, sports and youth. The agreement was reached at the initiative of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
