Sudanese Ambassador to Qatar to QNA: Qatar Always Stands by Sudan and Its People in All Circumstances and Crises

HE Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to the State of Qatar Ahmed Abdel-Rahman Mohamed Hassan Siwar Al Dahab appreciated the State of Qatar's permanent support to Sudan and its people in all circumstances and crises throughout history, including the current crisis facing the country.

In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency , HE the Ambassador of Sudan said, "We must express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for the steadfast support of HH the Amir, the government and the people of the brotherly State of Qatar. They have been standing by Sudan in all the crises and challenges throughout history, including the current crisis that began on the morning of April 15, 2023." HE praised the significant humanitarian assistance provided by the State of Qatar to support those affected by this crisis in the areas of food and medicine. HE also commended the swift response to the appeal made by the Sudanese government to the international community in this regard. This has contributed to alleviating suffering and addressing the shortages in those needs, especially in light of this crisis which causes a deterioration in basic services in the capital city of Khartoum and other cities that have been affected by the influx of displaced citizens.

The brotherly State of Qatar responded quickly to the appeal made by the Sudanese government to the international community to contribute to alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the citizens in the state of Khartoum and other cities affected by the influx of displaced individuals. Qatar operated an airlift bridge carrying the required humanitarian aid to Port Sudan Airport, in addition to setting up a field hospital. All of these efforts effectively contributed to filling the gaps in medical and healthcare supplies in the humanitarian and healthcare sectors. Qatari relief aircrafts continue their flights, loaded with aid, HE the Ambassador said.

On Monday, Qatar will co-chair a high-level conference in Geneva, along with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Federal Republic of Germany, the United Nations represented by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the European Union and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The purpose of the conference is to announce commitments to support the humanitarian response in Sudan and the region.

In his comment on Qatar's participation this high-level conference, HE Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the State of Qatar Ahmed Abdel-Rahman Mohamed Hassan Siwar Al Dahab, stated that Qatar's participation in this conference really confirms its firm stances towards the Sudanese people.

The Sudanese Ambassador once again expressed his sincere appreciation to the State of Qatar for its response in evacuating a large number of Sudanese nationals holders of the Qatari ID and their families from Sudan to Qatar through Qatari relief aircraft.
