Syria, India to enhance cooperation in Health field

The Minister of Health Hassan al-Ghabbash discussed with India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan and the accompanying delegation, enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health field.

Minister Ghabbash, during the meeting held Thursday in the Ministry of Health, highlighted the solid historic relations between the two countries, stressing the need to foster cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical industries, in which India is advanced and known for its qualitative medical expertise.

The Minister underlined the need for sharing expertise with the Indian side by sending Syrian doctors to India to upgrade competencies, scientific and medical expertise.

He also hailed India’s key role in supporting the health sector in the country, especially during the devastating earthquake and providing humanitarian and medical aid.

In his turn, Minister Muraleedharan said that India and Syria have traditionally enjoyed warm and friendly relations, expressing his country’s keenness to boost these ties as well as providing every facility through sharing Indian expertise in developing the Syrian health sector and receiving and training Syrian doctors in Indian medical institutions.
