The final qualifying tests for the 2024 Syrian Scientific Olympiad, kick off

Damascus, With the participation of 248 students from various provinces, the final qualifying tests for the 2024 Syrian Scientific Olympiad kicked off on Thursday, to select the members of the national teams that will participate in the international Olympiad competitions during the coming period, in the specializations (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics). The final qualifiers held by the Distinction and Creativity Agency include two rounds of tests over two days, each round lasting 4 straight hours for the specializations (mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology) in the halls of the Ebla Hotel in the Damascus countryside, and 5 straight hours for the informatics specialization at the College of Engineering (Informatics) at the University of Damascus. Students from the first year of secondary school who qualified from the current season will participate in the tests, as well as students who achieved first ranks in the Scientific Olympiad for Youth in mathematics and science, the school programming competition, and the programming marathon for children and adolescents, where question models were developed by the central scientific committees for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad. Which will carry out the correction processes and calculate the final grades for the participants under the two tests, to determine the final ranking at the Syrian level. The competitions for the new season of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad were launched on the 21st of last October through the first stage qualifiers within the governorates with the participation of 4,283 male and female students, and 1,281 male and female students qualified for the second stage qualifiers, which were also held within the governorates, and their competitions resulted in the success of 248 distinguished students to qualify for the qualifications.
